Our small family business here in England supports multiple small family businesses in Kashmir, where we try to provide months of work for skilled artisans relying on our custom. Our beautiful embroideries are slowly but surely created over a period of 4 to 5 months, from sourcing the best quality 2 ply wool for stitching each motif, to the final washing of each metre of fabric by hand. This slow process of hand making and human interaction in a village based, cottage industry is in direct contrast to the frenetic, city based, factory setting in which most fabrics are now made by machines.
